Camera Crew Needed for Independent Short Feature

Camera Crew Needed for Independent Short Feature

Belfast, UK
Listed by View details

ASTRL Pictures, an independent film production company are currently looking for local talent to join the cast and crew of their upcoming short feature “A brief inquisition into the luxury dining experience (and the world of food)”. The project is written and directed by Riagáin Grainger, who has a history of success within the professional film industry including a selection of accredited awards, a multitude of top tier festival nominations and an opulence of experience under his belt. Some of his work that have made it to the silver screens over the last few years include: Horror On the Nameless Isle, Goodbye Hello and Plastic City. Riagàin has liaised with many of the UK’s biggest networks and alumni within MediaCityUK who have worked on Game of Thrones, Doctor Who and Peaky Blinders.

Synopsis:

Food is the addiction everyone has…Within a luxurious London restaurant, over the course of an evening, a series of unfortunate events and obstacles are dealt to the kitchen staff, the beating heart of this establishment. When a notorious food critic arrives unexpectedly, their cooking skills are put to the test while also dealing with their own unique and at times, obscure personal problems. Order up!

The most notable influences are from filmmakers such as Wes Anderson (Director of The Grand Budapest Hotel / The Life Aquatic with Steve Zuzuri) and Terry Gilliam (Director of Brazil, Monty Python & the Life of Brian, Monty Python & the Holy Grail). The tone and visual style we are aiming for is very reminiscent of how Wes writes his dialogue and presents us with a dysfunctional group of “quirky” or “unique” characters in a particular environment, this being the kitchen. At the same time it has a strong satire and surreal element that Monty Python manages to encapsulate with its comedic presence and orchestrated group ensemble.
