One Pound Karaoke is a warm-hearted factual entertainment show, bringing joy to your town centre with a travelling karaoke booth open to all. All you need is a coin for the slot, and you can step out of your boring routine to belt out your favourite songs with friends, family.
We are looking for two presenters with relevant experience, applying as a duo or individually. Taking into account the current health risk from Covid-19, the shoot will follow social distancing and other production guidelines to ensure the protection of cast and crew.
The following is a brief summary of the presenters’ roles and the type of characterisation we are looking for:
The presenters will arrive at a different town each episode and discuss where to build a specially designed karaoke booth, sometimes creating comedic moments by arguing over the location. They will interview passers-by they meet on the street or in front of the karaoke booth. We will expect presenters to have strong communication skills, leading the interview in a fun, interactive way that brings interviewees’ authenticity and emotions to the fore. Most importantly, we ask that the presenters do not judge participants’ singing ability or entertainment skills; this is not a singing competition show but a feel-good show centered on the experience of singing. So rather than Simon Cowell, think James Corden: someone who is willing to sing along and have a good time if the mood calls for it. It would be a big plus if the presenters have a good knowledge of music (in a variety of genres), and even better if you are a confident and/or talented singer.
This show is a television pilot, being produced as a graduate project at the National Film and Television School.
Audition / Rehearsal / Production datesShooting will take place between the 28th September and the 2nd October. You will not be required for all days, and we can work to accommodate individual schedules.
