Female & Male Leads Required for Short Drama Film

Female & Male Leads Required for Short Drama Film

Victoria, Australia
Listed by View details

'The Slide' is an 8-10-minute drama film that follows a young woman's return to her family home during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

For this project, we are seeking a male and female lead:

The female lead is Natalie (29). She has just been forced to move back home with her parents after losing her job during the pandemic.

The male lead is Jacob (26). He is Natalie's younger brother. However, unlike Natalie, Jacob has never lived out of home and has a more sheltered perspective on the situation.

This film is to be directed by a recent graduate of the VCA Master of Film and Television.

Our vision for this film is to create a simple, intimate and understated depiction of the massive upheavals that we have all experienced over the past year. When completed, we will be submitting the film to local and international festivals.

We are anticipating a 2-day shoot in early December, in Warrandyte, Melbourne.
Exact shooting dates are TBD and contingent on the road map out of the current Melbourne lockdown. Please note that we take the health of our cast and crew seriously and will be implementing a COVID-Safe plan on set.

The casting process will be conducted remotely. All short listed applicants will be contacted, given the script, and asked to submit a video audition.

These roles are unpaid, but travel expenses will be covered.

Job payment

Unpaid – this is a collaboration opportunity

Expenses paid - Travel expenses will be reimbursed

Collaborations should create mutual benefit and are usually amateur, student or 'Time for Print' projects.

Natalie

Natalie (29) has just been forced to move back home with her parents after losing her job and home during the pandemic. While she seeks to maintain a brave face and not wallow in self-pity or despair, she is challenged by this rapid and dramatic reversal in her fortunes.

Female, aged 25 to 33

Applications closed 12 October 2020.

Jacob

Unlike Natalie, Jacob (26) has never lived out of home, and has therefore been somewhat sheltered from the impacts of the pandemic. Nonetheless, he does his best to be a voice of solidarity and reassurance to his older sister as they both navigate this moment in their lives.
