Three Actors for Main Roles in Short Drama Film

Three Actors for Main Roles in Short Drama Film

Victoria, Australia
Listed by View details

'Cutpurse' is a short petty crime drama with themes of: regret, redemption and identity.

Lewis, A young pickpocket begins to rethink his life choices after stealing from Mackenzie, whom he decides to observe after the robbery.

'Cutpurse' is a short, sombre piece that takes its time. We want understated performances from believable actors.

We will be shooting in the outer city streets of Melbourne and we want actors that fit right in.

Character Profiles:

Lewis:

Lewis is a 26 year old man, who has grown up in poverty. Although he has always had a roof over his head, his single mother has always struggled with money, and on occasion, Lewis had gone without food. Because of this, Lewis turned to the “art” of pickpocketing at a young age, and has been doing it ever since. Lewis is
a smart but uneducated man, more street-smart than book smart. His moral compass has always been a bit skewed, but at the turning point of the short film, it begins to change for the better.

Mackenzie:

Mackenzie is a middle aged receptionist at a doctors clinic in suburban Melbourne. She is single and without kids, often drinks wine to excess with her close girlfriends, and has been known to turn up to work late. The fact that she lives alone and has no one to take care of, often leads her to lose track of what is really important. During the short, her life seems to be in shambles.

William:

William is the middle man between Lewis and a larger crime organisation. He serves as Lewis’ “Boss”, and is the man Lewis takes the stolen cards to when he pickpockets Mackenzie. He is 46, and works out of an old car where he occasionally sleeps. William is a cigar chain-smoker, and really likes to talk, often taking over the entire conversation. William is a reminder to Lewis of what not to turn into.
