'Death in a Family' is a short, dramedy produced by 3rd year Film Production Students at The University for The Creative Arts.

Zara; an alienated member of the Miller family, with no filter or “normal” mannerisms, returns from the funeral of her grandmother. Subsequently reminded of the death of her partner and lack of understanding from her family in regards to her sexuality, she must attempt to come to terms with her deep trauma.

We hope to distribute this Film to festivals upon completion.

Audition / Rehearsal / Production dates

Shoot week begins on the 26th February 2021. Further details TBC.
Rehearsals to start by the beginning 2021.

Zara - Leading Role

Zara (22), an art student, unwillingly finds herself at the centre of a family mourning. Frequently mocking her fellow family members overly emotional states, we come to learn that behind her cynical and stone walled persona lies deep trauma.

Female, aged 19 to 25

Father - Supporting Role

Father (53), must help his family in a sensitive time of mourning and encapsulates a stoic nature of support. He comes to reveal an extremely tender and understanding sensibility towards, his daughter, Zara at the films end.

Male, aged 50 to 60

Mother - Supporting Role

Mother (54), is going through a terrible period of grief, following the loss of her own mum. Nonetheless she must persist in keeping her daughters in check.

Sister (28), frequently finds herself at her sister, Zara's, throat. However at her core she has the same insecurities as any other teenager.
