Costume Designer and Makeup & Hair for Honours Film

Costume Designer and Makeup & Hair for Honours Film

Western Australia, Australia

PROJECT SYNOPSIS:
CASTRATRIX is an edgy, dark, satirical comedy that criticises the modern, male internet-dweller. This horrific fairy tale questions contemporary addictions and vices; delving head-first into themes of castration, simping, masturbation, infantilisation, and masculinity.

CASTRATRIX is a culmination of work towards director Brendan Miskelly’s honours thesis in Creative Media at Murdoch University. His studies have led him down a path exploring psychoanalytic theory and spiritual self-actualisation; heavily focusing on the Jungian concept of ‘Phallos’ to inform an understanding of healthy masculine development. The film will explore this concept, in showing how vital the phallic archetype is for men and present a world in which men have willingly given up this power and responsibility in favour of quick and easy pleasures.

THE COSTUMES:
E-Girl (Standard)
The E-Girl will mostly be adorned with pinks and blues through most of her time on-screen until the end where she is shown wearing white and red. She wears standard E-Girl attire: thigh-highs, face glitter, and short, pleated skirts.

E-Girl (White Dress)
In the last scene, the E-Girl is shown wearing a simple, long, white, flowing dress, almost akin to a wedding dress, to emanate a sense of naïve purity.

E-Girl (Red Dress)
In the same scene, she transitions into a short, sexy, red dress. She is powerful, and dangerous.

Constable Gerda
Constable Gerda is a stern and strong woman who wears a navy blue military uniform with shoulder pads to exaggerate her authoritarian frame.

Officers
The two officers wear black, androgynous SWAT team uniforms with large codpieces and literally breast plates.
