'I'm Not Gay' uses a combination of short film and documentary formats. One of the main short stories in the film involves two dads and their young son discussing life and love on the beach. This powerful natural environment speaks to the theme of human nature which sits at the heart of the film.
At the end of the film, these two dads and their son are greeted on the beach by a crowd of people who have come to celebrate. Dotted throughout this crowd will be some of the lead actors from the film, thereby bringing the whole story together in a vibrant, uplifting finale.
You will be required to be at the beach from approximately 6pm-8pm on a Saturday evening in mid-late April. The beach location is still being scouted, but it will either be in Greater Sydney, or no more than 2 hours outside of Sydney. A large bus will be used to deliver all extras to and from the location. At the location, you will be pretending to celebrate to music, and form a large circle.
While this is an independent, not-for-profit production, you will be paid a modest fee of $50 for your time. If the shoot goes over 2 hours, you will be paid $25 per hour thereafter.
You will have access to the project website upon application.
