FOUL is a psychological horror film that delves deep into the psyche of a professional female basketball player. Struck down by injury during the height of her career, she struggles to accept a life without the game. When a sinister entity presents her with an opportunity to regain everything she has lost, she is forced to choose between her own success and the future of a promising young player from the under 16 girls team she coaches.

The film is being shot on location in Melbourne and is written and directed by a VCA graduate, her last film was screened at festivals internationally and won best student film at Monsterfest 2017.

It will be produced by an established Melbourne production company with a professional crew. This is a paid role.

The project will go to genre festivals in Australia and abroad with a subsequent release online.


There are scenes that will require both characters to be able to play basketball with some proficiency.

The owner of this listing has agreed to abide by local 'working with children' regulations. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Audition / Rehearsal / Production dates

Shoot dates are penciled for March 2022, with rehearsals to be confirmed in early 2022. Lisa will be required for multiple days and the remaining cast for 1 day over a 3-4 day period. Which may include evening shoots.

Job payment

$200 per day - Payment will take place within one month of the shoot wrap.

After being injured, star athlete Lisa faces uncertainty for the first time in her career and she is willing to do anything to get back into the game she has dedicated her whole life to. How far will she go? We are specifically looking for actors who have a sports background and experience and can bring that sense of athleticism confidently to the role.

Minnie is a focused, bright and composed teenager. She is an exceptional young basketballer, brimming with natural talent and athleticism, and has a real shot at playing national level if she wanted to. Currently the captain of the U16 girls basketball team, and protege of local legend and Team Australia player Lisa. Minnie knows a career as a top athlete can be fleeting, and her parents encourage her to work hard at school to ensure she’s set up a sustainable future for herself.

Charming, theatrical, and manipulative. Flo is a self made woman who has had a long and successful career as a theatre actor and later as a TV personality. Now in her later years she has semi-retired due to her health, and has been living alone in a quaint retirement village for the last decade. She harbours a dark secret that enables her to keep living despite her illness, if she is willing to sacrifice the things she loves most.

Jolly, and sweet but afraid of confrontation. Fiona is Lisa’s adoring Mum (and biggest fan). She is highly supportive of Lisa’s basketball career to the point where she becomes a bit overbearing, although she means well.
