The opportunity for a young Sydney based actor to perform in The Australian Shakespeare Company's acclaimed production of The Wind in the Willows staged at Sydney's Botanic Garden.

You will be performing the role of Portly and working with a very talented and experienced ensemble of professional performers. This is a wonderful opportunity for the right young actor to play the role of Portly (a young Otter) who saves the day when the weasels capture Toad and take over Toad Hall.

The owner of this listing has agreed to abide by local 'working with children' regulations. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Audition / Rehearsal / Production dates

Rehearsals start on December 20th (public holidays off) and the season runs until Jan 23rd with shows running Wednesday to Sunday. Morning shows only on Wed (10:30) & Sun (11am), Two shows daily on Thur, Fri, Sat. !0:30 & 6pm.

Actor

Portly is a cheeky and wise little otter. Adventurous, brave and gets into trouble when he/she/they disobeys their dad's order to 'never to go into The Wildwood.' Portly saves the day when the weasels capture Toad and take over Toad Hall. We are looking for a young actor 15 years+ to play Portly. The actor needs to be 5ft 4 (160cm) or under. Covid vaccinated, willing to work outdoors, fit, energetic, confident singer and have a great/loud vocal capacity, the show is acoustic and a lot of fun.

Anyone, aged 15 to 22

  • Height: Any - 162 cm / 5ft 4in
