Detective Creed Brown (lead role)
“dark sunken eyes, messy hair, stubble littering his chin and neck.”
Well built but looking sad and dishevelled from working too much
Brown is a driven police detective at his wit’s end. He’s worked hard, even sacrificing his health and personal relations for his career, but now he is truly stuck. The strain of his work has already affected him greatly over his years of service, but this case is affecting him in a new way, as it forces him to relive his suppressed childhood fear of the dentist
Males, aged 30 to 45
"Neat, calm, professional. Everything Brown is trying to be"
The Dentist while not directly stopping Brown at any point in the story serves as the film’s antagonist, embodying his fear of going to the dentist. The Dentist is methodical and precise in their actions, acting in a logical way with little sense of feeling, creating an extra unsettling layer for Brown, as The Dentist’s calm and detached manner comes off as more sinister and suspicious, especially in Brown’s deteriorating mental state
Anyone, aged 25 to 45
older, less fit and cleaner than Brown
The Police Chief has a sort of tough love mentality towards Brown, as he’s able to give him orders while maintaining a level of care for his well being. He’s rough around the edges but well educated and controlled, presenting himself as in charge and collected – unlike Brown.
Anyone, aged 40 and over
Similar to the dentist in appearance, though dressed more casually. A dental student in training.
The Assistant is similarly neat and detached as the Dentist, maintaining the discomfort that Brown feels being at the dentist.
Anyone, aged 18 to 35
