Sheffield, UK
Listed by View details

The location of the filming will actually be in BARNSLEY! However there was no option for barnsley in the drop down message!

Amdram is a comedic, mockumentry style programme, which will be created through methods of script and improvisation. In the North of England, West Malone, the local amateur dramatics group, are preparing for their annual musical, Annie. We follow the Malone Players, through their gruelling auditions process.

Annie follows the life of a young orphaned ginger girl, as she manages to break away from her lonely life and find a father figure in the bazzilionaire Mr Warbucks, the show is mainly made up of children in the cast. With an average age of 65 in the Malone Players, the word challenge would be an understatement! Director, Choreographer, musical director and assistant choreographer are all present at the auditions. Putting the auditionees through their paces in hope to find the next Michael Ball. All auditions are held at their local Working mens club, where most of their rehearsals will be taking place, with a complimentary cup of tea and biccy for all auditionees…no plus ones allowed!

Averaging an age of 65, The Malone players have decided to hold open auditions (allowing all members of the public to attend) in order to gain some fresh faced talented thespians….. In other words their current members are a little old! Many of the locals have decided to audition for this years musical, mostly newbies to the theatre world, who have never even seen a script before, let alone stood on a stage! Will Martin, the head of the malones motorcyclists group “hells angels”, get his dream role of sandy the dog, and will the auditions for the biggest Annual Event in West Malone, since its “which vegetable looks most like a celebrity” competition, be a success or a complete shambles. All I can say is….the show must go on.

As this is a mockumentry the aim is to gain a very natural performance in very funny situations. Similar to programmes such as "The Office" and "That Peter Kay Thing".
All expenses will be paid for and the shooting dates are 26th,27th,28th feb and 1st march (most probably not all of these dates). The location is a working mens club in Barnsley town centre.
