With popular series such as Scrublands and international films such as The Surfer being shot in Western Australia, Perth is a growing hub for film and TV production. If you want to base your acting career here, you’ll need to find yourself a good agent to ensure you’re being submitted for opportunities in Perth and beyond.
But just because you and your agent are based in Perth doesn't mean you can't be submitted for opportunities in, say, Melbourne or Sydney. With the rise of self-tape auditions, you often won’t need to travel until you’re further along the casting process. Just be prepared to jump on a plane if you're invited for an in-person recall – or you land the job.
