My first taste of performing was at the Pauline Quirke Academy (PQA) where I trained acting, singing and dancing for 3 years. l took intensive musical theatre classes were we worked on various scenes, dances and songs from different musicals, which we showcased in various productions including a Christmas Pantomime and 'Little Shop of Horrors' were I played the character of Audrey 2 (the plant). In our Comedy and Drama classes, I learnt invaluable core acting techniques, ranging from sensory memory, affective memory, improvisation and animal exercise. In our Film and TV classes, I became familiar with working both in front of and behind the camera, with opportunities to write, direct, produce and perform in short drama pieces. I became familiar with different kinds of camera shots when filming short news and weather sketches, helped create production schedules and budgets for a music video and experimented with editing software when working on a silent film.

These experiences resulted in a greater appreciation for the important work that goes on both on and off screen, and I was able to apply these skills when I was chosen to be a part of the National Youth Film Academy's 2 week intensive film course. We were divided into small groups and given 2 weeks to create our own short films, which were then screened at the Hackney Picturehouse Cinema in London. I applied as an actress but assisted with all areas of the film making process and was able to apply everything I learnt at PQA to this experience. As well as this I participated in a week long summer school with Northern Stage, Newcastle, were all my training at PQA was again put in practice as we created our own piece of theatre.

I was lucky enough to be cast in a World War 2 themed student film shortly after this which gave me a huge insight into the intensity of acting with regards to tough shooting conditions, time pressures and long hours, as we shot during winter on various external locations, including the woods and a hotel ground. The whole experience made me even more determined to break into the professional acting industry, as I thrived through the freedom and excitement I felt while filming.

Since 2015 I have worked seasonally as an entertainer on the Polar Express - a train ride experience based on the famous Christmas film. This type of work relies on improvisation, imagination and a real in depth knowledge of your character and responsibilities due its highly interactive nature. Two of my fondest memories were meeting a group of foster children, and a young girl from the ‘Make a Wish Foundation’. The fact that I had the opportunity to be a part of making their Christmases special is a feeling that I hope to continue to achieve through the power of performance.

Most recently I have taken part in rehearsals for a local musical production of ‘Footloose’, where I have made a special effort to take on a proactive part in the role of Bickle. I have garnered special praise for my dedication to the role, recording dance routines for other members of the society and taking the lead with singing and dance rehearsals.

Influences: Queen, David Bowie, Eminem,

I have had singing lessons for the past 6 years and currently hold a distinction in Grade 6 Musical Theatre. I love all styles and genres of music, ranging from pop, rock, rap, gospel, hip hop and jazz! I particularly enjoy to sing comedic character songs, such as 'Poor Unfortunate Souls' from 'Little Mermaid'. However I am eager to expand my vocal range and take on songs that a little more challenging for my voice type, as well as build up more of a music repertoire and get some more experience singing alone in front of people as I don't have a lot of experience doing this! I also have basic experience of playing the keyboard, but would like to learn more instruments, specifically the guitar and the harp!

Dancing

Dancing ability

Beginner

Other than attending a local dance school for 4 years as a child, I have limited experience in dance. However, I have trained in musical theatre at a local drama school and so am no stranger to it. I am also currently rehearsing for a production of 'Footloose' and, as a chorus member I have had a lot more experience dancing! I only know basic skills but can do general tap and contemporary dance. I would be grateful for any opportunity in which dance training would be involved, as I would absolutely love improve my dance skills! Particular favourite dance styles include the Charleston, Jive and Quickstep.

Film & Stage Crew

I have recently took part in a 2 week intensive film course with the National Youth Film Academy. My main role was acting, but I got opportunities to help the crew put the film together, from filming, editing and production work such as finding locations, budgeting and making schedules. It is something I am exceptionally interested in and any experience would be very beneficial for me.
