I began singing when I was 6 years old by imitating opera singers. When I was 14, I began private voice lessons. I attended the Settlement Music School in Philadelphia and won the Mario Lanza Scholarship. At University I starred in the lead roles of Carnival (Lilly) and Man of La Mancha (Aldonza/Dulcinea). After University I sang in various venues including opera companies, Oratorio soloist and Broadway Review shows. I was taught to sing at a professional level by my late-husband Raymond Buckingham, a well known and highly regarded singer/performer and voice teacher/pedagogue in NYC. My voice is quite large and resonant which belies my small stature. I am of half Latino origin, speak Spanish fluently and can also sing in Italian, French, German, as is common in the study of opera/classical music. I project a very calm, genuine and refined image on stage with the ability to be personable and fun.
