Paula Terry was born in Sydney, Australia and moved with her family to Paris,France at the age of eight. After returning to Sydney four years later, Paula began to study drama and singing, a natural progression with her musical family background of an opera singer mother and classical guitarist brother.
The singing career which began more than thirty years ago has seen Paula create a reputation for herself as a widely respected vocalist renowned for her seamlessly versatile vocal style range, including jazz standards, bossanova, pop, dance and R&B.
A lifetime spent entertaining audiences on several continents means Paula can sing in French, Spanish, Portugese and Japanese.
When Paula first came to Japan in 1998 she was signed by the Japanese label 'Alpha music' to record her debut album, 'Just Break Away' released by Toshiba EMI. Paula has also recorded many Eurobeat-stye songs with the famous game software company Konami and also recorded for Sony Playstation
and Sega game software. Through the international release of these
songs Paula now has fans from all over the world, and is listed as an artist on Wikipedia.
Paula has performed as a vocalist for numerous TV commercials, Paula has performed with renowned bassist Paul Jackson from 'Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters' and with Todd Carver, the fusion jazz guitarist who toured with Esther Phillips.
She sang background vocals for the award-winning Japanese actor Oda Yuji on his debut album and appeared with the Japanese pop star Echo on a televised concert that was broadcast throughout Asia.
In 2007, Paula won the highly-prized contract to perform at the Mira Costa Hotel in their a la carte restaurant at Tokyo Disney Sea.
Paula has worked with some of the most internationally respected musicians in the business, such as the jazz trio of Jonathan Katz (piano),
Andy Wulf (sax), and Mark Turian(bass).
The numerous high-profile events Paula has performed at include the
XO Hennessey promotion event in Osaka with bassist Paul Jackson, and an extensive tour throughout the Japanese archipelago with an international dance troupe, performing an exclusive dinner review show at five star hotels.
She has also performed with top Japanese jazz musicians such as the pianist Ken Ishida who played with the renowned jazz vocalist, Carol Sloane, and performed with the celebrated jazz pianist, Kei Shibata.
Earlier this year, Paula performed at one of Tokyo's most famous jazz clubs,'JZ Brat' accompanied by respected Tokyo guitar professional
Paula has performed at the Canadian embassy at a gala attended by the Japanese Imperial Royal Family and recently performed at a function for the South African Chamber of Commerce, attended by the Ambassador for South Africa and several political luminaries.
