To gain more confidence and exposure I have taken part in a lot of performance shows whether it be singing, dancing or acting and have gained a lot of experience from this. I gained great experience from singing in the Open Mic singing contest which I took part in Autumn 2012 at the Bedford Corn Exchange. In my free time, I attend auditions, network at music events, practicing and rehearsing songs for upcoming music shows and perform at local music gigs.
My music inspirations:
I have been singing ever since the age of 6 and have always been an enthusiastic performer. My main music inspiration comes from people like: Beyonce, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, Celine Dion, Adele, Emeli Sande, Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, Boyz II Men, Etta James, Amy Winehouse, Aretha Franklin etc.
I have listed some of my past singing experiences, starting from the earliest to latest events:
During my time at Surrey Street Primary School, I sang ''independent women'' by Destiny's Child and won the song contest.
I have a GCSE in Music which I got in high school. I also learnt about the theory of music, writing music notes, listening to different composers and their music, and recorded music that I composed and took a music exam that I passed whilst studying.
I played the Viola for several years, I started in primary school and finished playing in high school. During this time, I took numerous music exams and have: level 1, 2, 3, grade 1 and 2 certificates for playing the Viola. I also performed in different high school orchestras playing music from successful composers such as Tchaikovsky, Beethoven etc in front of an invited audience. As part of my GCSE Music that I studied, I also went on a trip to the Royal Albert Hall.
Additionally, I also earned a BTEC National Diploma qualification in Performing Arts (singing, dancing, acting) from doing a 2 year course at Milton Keynes College. Whilst on this course, I performed at open mic events, I also had to audition to get into the end of year student show which I was grateful to be a part of and I performed 'Gravity' by Sara Bareilles in front of an invited audience.
During my time at the University of West London, I sang in a live band in the basement studio of our university. I was assessed on singing songs like ''the best thing I never had'' by Beyonce ''let's stay together'' by Al Green etc and I also was a backing singer in the band.
It would be the biggest achievement to accomplish and succeed in my music career as a professional singer. This is something I have been passionate about my whole life, music is my life.
''One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain'' (Bob Marley).
