I started studying the cello at 7. I had already begun to learn the guitar and piano at 5 years old. I continued at school and soon achieved the associated board exams grades 1-8 in cello and 1-6 in piano and guitar. My passion for the cello grew and I continued studying different techniques, playing in orchestras, performing chamber music and musicals. Through working with professional cellists and other musicians I also developed an interest in teaching.

I went to France in 1992 and studied at the Paris Conservatoire. I participated in many international music festivals in France and spent 10 years as principal cellist with L’orchestre Impromptu in numerous concerts in Paris. During this particularly creative period of my musical life I was also a member of l’orchestre Symphonique Francilien. This took me on an inspirational tour of thirteen Chateaux along the river La Loire.

Other types of music interest me so I joined and performed with a Parisian dance company and did recordings with some French Rock/World Music bands, performing live concerts in many theatres in and around the Paris region until I moved back to England in 2003.

NOW

I am based in my home town Stratford-upon-Avon where I’m passionate in teaching this warm, beautiful instrument, the cello to all ages and levels with a 100% pass rate for grades and a fun approach to learning! I’m able to teach any genre they are interested in.(Classical, Folk, Jazz, Fusion, Rock etc..)
I also teach Double Bass and Guitar too!
I’m often hired in to join Orchestras and Musical Theatres like RSC.I gig with different bands and do solo performances and background music for Wedding ceremonies, Drinks Reception, Christenings, other family/friends special occasions and Corporate Dinners which creates a wonderful warm ambience.I can play different styles of music from Classical to Rock with Folk/Jazz and Blues in between which goes down well with the guests!
I’m so excited to help musicians hop on stage that I promote many live music evenings, organise Festivals, Music events, and even create my own workshops as Musical Director and put on shows from the output of workshops. I run the Stratford Upon Avon Folk Club.
