An online search of “top models UK” confirms mature models David Gandy, Kate Moss, and Naomi Campbell continue to hold court. Meanwhile, with catwalks like that of French fashion house Balmain proudly showcasing models in their 60s – Axelle Doué, Nadja La Ganza, and Kristina de Coninck all walked in 2024 – there’s huge potential for a mature modelling career.
While most modelling agencies boast a ‘classic’ section dedicated to mature talent, it can be hard to know which to approach.
To help you navigate the world of silver-haired fashion, we’ve highlighted five UK agencies that specialise in representing mature models and are committed to scouting mature talent.
Any list of mature modelling agencies worth its salt has to include Grey. Based in London, it is the only agency in the UK to solely represent models over the age of 35.
Grey models have appeared in campaigns for high-end beauty, haute couture, runway, streetwear, international advertising, feature films, editorial, and lookbooks.
Founder Rebecca Valentine aims to “redefine our perception of age and ageing” and is an expert on the topic; she is often quoted in articles on age and fashion.
A notable face on Grey’s books is Frances Dunscombe, who became a model at the age of 82. Her first commission was for Prada with Hunger magazine, swiftly followed by London Fashion Week 2015, walking for Chinese designer Youjai Ji.
If you’d like to become part of Grey’s mature model family, apply here.
The London–based Models1 is a legacy British agency with a solid reputation. It represents models of all ages but is as well-known for its mature faces as it is for its younger talent.
Founded in 1968, it is the home of leading names, including Twiggy, Linda Evangelista, and Daphne Selfe, the world’s oldest supermodel. Its models appear in editorial, global advertising campaigns, catwalks, and enviable lookbooks.
While it doesn’t exclusively represent household names, Models1 is for men and women who have at least some industry experience. It also requires female mature models to be at least 5'8".
If you think you’ve got the chutzpah (and the height!) for this competitive mature modelling agency, apply here.
Mrs Robinson, like Grey, is a modelling agency that represents only mature models. Based in London, it reps women over 25 (no men), believing that “beauty and style are ageless”.
The work focuses on editorial and commercial, including advertising campaigns, magazines, catalogue shoots, and TV adverts.
One of Mrs Robinson’s top models is Alex Brunei, who has modelled for Vogue Italia, Julien Macdonald, GQ China, and Starling Bank, as well as doing runway work.
If you’re looking for an agency where you won’t be bumping into teens at castings, apply by email to make an appointment.
Glasgow-based Colours, as Scotland’s leading modelling agency, has some of the best opportunities for mature models in the north of the UK.
Colours was founded in 1998 by lifelong bookers Alison Bruce and Rosalynd Ramage. They offer work in fashion, TV, and film, as well as commercial jobs for local clients.
One of its regulars is Shayne Brodie, who was scouted after she let her hair go grey in her 50s. Since signing with Colours, she’s worked with Specsavers and Anthropologie and been photographed by Hollywood photographer Marco Grob.
If you’re in the north of the UK or would prefer more commercial work, Colours could be the agency for you. Apply here.
An enigmatic boutique agency with an office in central London, 11:14 represents talent with compelling personas, also referred to as ‘non-model models,’ who have a strong social media presence and an enticing personal brand. Are you a mature model with a story to tell?
The agency is still fairly new, having been founded in 2019 by former Elite Model Management booker and luxury branding expert Vanessa Emilien. Her experience shows in the success of her models, including the mature model-influencer Accidental Icon and JoAni Johnson who, at 72, has been in recent shoots for Nike, Gap, and Missoni.
The agency’s work includes a diverse range of campaigns, editorial, and runway shows across fashion, luxury, beauty, lifestyle, film, TV, and music.
If you have a strong personal brand and a knack for social media, you can get in touch with 11:14 on Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), or by email through its website.
